Diversionary Activities

Gym

Currently there is free access to a local gym in Dunscroft, who offer cardio and resistant weights. The gym is fully equipped with sauna, showers, sun beds and changing room.

The gym may be accessed 5 days a week 9 am – 5 pm after a preliminary induction and health check has been completed.

Clients have found that the gym is a good way of managing feelings as well as gaining a natural high. Using the gym can heighten self-esteem and improve sleep and eating patterns.

Youth Centre

On a Tuesday between 2 pm- 4 pm a Peer support group is held (See Peer support page).

Drama and the arts

Currently on a Wednesday between 2 pm – 4 pm at St Mary’s church hall in Stainforth there is a film making project running using the latest equipment and digital techniques. This is a fantastic opportunity for clients to experience every aspect of film making both in front and behind the camera.

The first short film can be previewed by either the link on the homepage or by going to www.stainforthonline.co.uk/sdp.htm.

The film work has been focused on the changes Stainforth has undergone since the 1980’s.

Complimentary tickets

To promote clients experiencing ‘clean times’, the project has a small regular supply of free tickets to a variety of local attraction i.e. The Dome, Odeon cinema and Doncaster Super bowl.

Outing

Throughout the year the project in close conjunction with the client representative arranges various one-day activities, i.e. climbing, canoeing, digital camera work and family activities.
