Working in Schools
Since October 2001, the SYCI project,
under their parent company Mediac,
have been teaching at Wickersley school with year 7 students (11+).
This project has been to demonstrate the effective use of research on
the internet. Each student ended the project with their own web site,
on topics ranging from Adidas football boots to Destinys Child!!
This work has proved to be most
enjoyable for the students and staff at Wickersley School. We are
hoping to take this work into other schools across the region. We would
welcome any enquiries from schools and/or parents who would like their
children to participate in such training.

work.
We have also worked with Year 8
students at Wickersley School. Each student used real photos and
layered cartoon characters on top and then created a horror story based
on the images they had chosen.

students' work.
We have also worked with Year 9
students at Wickersley School creating an 'online magazine'. Each group
of students is given their own section of the site (news, games, sport
etc.) to work on then the whole thing is pulled together at the end
before it is sent live. There are also plans to work with Year 8
students to improve on the skills learnt in Year 7.

We are about to begin work with a
project called 'Little Voices' which will give children in Sheffield an
opportunity to voice their opinions via a city-wide web site! It is
hoped that this work will include video work, interviews and multimedia
as well as the web site and training.
