MHAGS was set up in 1992 by Dorothy Gillman as an alternative to psychiatric hospital.  It was believed by giving people a place they feel they could go without being criticised for being mentally ill, would achieve some sort of therapeutic remedy.

MHAGS is run by an executive committee of users and offers a cheerful environment for people who have or have had mental health problems, to meet others for support and friendship.  You can have free cups of tea, chat, get some advice and information about mental health services/benefits and perhaps join us in some of our activities.  There is always someone around who can offer help with any problem and refer you to the right person or organisation.
