Sohini Indian Music & Dance

Sohini members have been working alongside Scott Pilkington of the Sheffield Community Information project.  They have designed a web site to promote the ideas and philosophy of the organisation, and to advertise current and future activities (concerts, workshops, music and dance classes etc).

Scott has guided Sohini members through the process of setting up a web site for an active community voluntary organisation.  It has been designed to be a dynamic platform with input from the community, with the mechanism for feedback and discussion on issues relating to Asian music in Sheffield.  He has also recommended software that is most appropriate for an organisation wishing to promote its own community music.

The web site gives aspiring Asian artists in the Sheffield area the opportunity to promote their own skills, which can be accessed by prospective employers and promoters.  It also gives Asian musicians an opportunity to put samples of their own music on the web site.

The web site will undoubtably help to raise the profile of Asian music in the Sheffield area.
