About South
Yorkshire Community Information
South Yorkshire Community
Information (SYCI) is a progression of the Sheffield Community
Information (SCI) project.
SCI was set up in 1999 as a partnership project between Sheffield
Libraries, Sheffield University and Manor Training & Resource Centre.
Since that time, it has increased the number of community and voluntary
organisations and small businesses in Sheffield that have a presence on
the World Wide Web. In just three years we helped over 300
organisations, ranging from parent & toddler groups to big businesses.
Phase One of the project came to an end in September 2001 having
over-achieved its' outputs by almost 100%. Phase Two, a partnership
between Sheffield Libraries, Sheffield University and
Mediac, came to
an end in October 2002, once more over-achieving its outputs. Stage
three aims to target groups in the Objective One Priority Four areas
across South Yorkshire, though we are not restricted to work with only
these groups. All community groups and businesses are encouraged to
contact us if they require a web site.
We are
working in partnership with the IT For Me project, taking our services
into various libraries across South Yorkshire. This enables better
access to our services for the people of South Yorkshire.
